My name is Andy Lin. I’m a 30 year old guy from Los Angeles who loves engineering, business, marketing, and helping others.
Why the Structural Engineer HQ Blog?
I am not the smartest guy on Earth, in fact, I am not even the smartest structural engineer in my city. However, I do have the passion to learn and the desire to continually improve.
I've been working in this industry for more than six years since I graduated from UCSD with a bachelor in Structural Engineering.
Throughout the years, I've transitioned from a student of engineering to a student of business and marketing. After reading the materials from Chet Holmes and Jay Abraham, I am convinced that the business of engineering is more than just crunching numbers, it has much to do with relationships, marketing, and perception of expertise.
I want to share my experience and what I learned. Engineering is still my strongest suit so I am going to start with teaching others on “how to pass the SE exam” – it's the most recent experience I have.
Gradually, I will start blogging more about the business and marketing side of engineering. My vision is to create a community of like-minded engineers who will collaborate and work together to make our industry more fun, exciting, and profitable.
What else besides engineering, business and marketing?
I am married to my beautiful and smart wife, Razan, and I have a cutest Biewer Terrier named Mochi. I love playing guitar and singing (thanks to my brother who taught me how to play).
I'm currently watching How I Met Your Mother :(, Big Bang Theory, New Girl, and Mad Men (just finished Breaking Bad).
Thank you!
My ultimate purpose in this world is to help and inspire others. Although I am not there yet but I wish that one day I will. Thank you so much for reading and for visiting my site. I hope to see you some day!
